This combination uses inorganic binder containing Zinc powder hence durability & corrosion resistance are improved comparing to standard type.

Zinc powder contained inorganic primer and top coat

Application

SZ-1200 is a two-component heat-resistant inorganic primer (Thick type) and it shows best corrosion resistance in our heavy duty specification category.

Regarding heat resistance, it is feasible to stand the heat up to 400℃ as film.

For primer and top coat, designated SZ-250 and SZ-400 will be applied.

<Heat-resistant inorganic Zinc rich paint : SZ-1200>

SZ-1200 is an inorganic Zinc rich paint with excellent anti-corrosion.

It dries fast and it will be insoluble to water after 60min. setting time.

Application range is wide and it is applicable from min. 5℃ with humidity at 50% - 95%.

Substrate surface treatment

Anti-corrosion function of Zinc rich primer and paint is achieved by direct contact to steel substrate ; therefore, perfect substrate surface treatment is necessary.

Also SZ-1200 contains a large amount of Zinc powder and small amount of resin; therefore, rough steel surface is necessary.

In order to obtain rough surface, blast shot is required.

Paint adjustment

Before adding Zinc powder, agitate main portion to be homogenious then add Zinc powder gradually under agitation.

After homogenized, filtrate mixture by 60 mesh metal filter.

As Zinc powder is easy to settle, continuous agitation during coating is necessary.

Mist coat

After inorganic Zinc primer is coated, apply the mist coat of paint being used at next process, SZ primer, with dilution condition of 30 - 40% to obtain good affinity of inorganic Zinc primer and SZ primer.

Protection and storage of coated steel

Coated film is cured fast if it is left outside, but it generates white rust due to water left on dried film for long period.

In order to prevent white rust, measures for curing and avoiding water should be implemented.

If paint is applied on white rust, poor adhesion occurs; therefore, remove white rust by sanding with sand paper then apply coating.

Caution on the application of Heavy duty type paint
  1. Substrate surface treatment : Remove oil from substrate surface by thinner then implement blast shot, ISO Sa 2.5 min.
    In case that blast shot is not feasible, apply sanding machine and remove foreign matters such as black scale, old paint film, and rust then implement surface treatment better than ISO St.3.0 .
    After treatment of substrate, remove dirts by air blow then implement undercoat application.
    For 400℃ type , implement a blast shot better than ISO Sa 2.5 .
  2. Refrain from applying at below 5℃ or humidity higher than 85%.
  3. SZ-1200 is applied by airless spray after blast shot. (Better than ISO Sa 2.5)
  4. In case that interval is out of specification, too long, apply sanding to obtain rough surface then implement application.
  5. Paint usage is fluctuated by shape of coating object, surface condition, and coating condition.
  6. When can is opened, confirm the condition of settling in the bottom then agitate well to be homogenious.
  7. Store in a dangerous goods warehouse with tightly sealed at good ventilation and prohibition of flame.
